Bass Fishing Rod
Whether fishing for sea bass or angling in freshwater lakes, bass are a challenge to one’s mental and physical skills. Bass fishing is popular because bass are plentiful and can be fished in all seasons. Its unbiased nature appeals to a broad spectrum of people. Anyone with or without athletic ability can achieve great things with practice and a good bass fishing rod.
A good bass fishing rod is sensitive enough to feel the fish’s pull. Graphite blanks are generally more sensitive than ones made of fiberglass. The handle of the bass fishing rod should fit comfortably in hand, be durable and channel slight movements accurately. The seat of the reel must also be durable and usable with many different brands and types of reels. The reel seat needs to have a cut to allow the hand to feel the blank directly. The guides on a bass fishing rod are very important. Guides must be compatible with the line size rating for the rod to avoid breaking the blank. Best to choose light, low profile, high quality guides for increased sensitivity and good casting distance.
The type of lure employed further determines the appropriate bass fishing rod. With buzzbaits and spinnerbaits, choose a rod between 6 and 7 feet long, lightweight and sensitive with a medium taper and soft tip. For topwater and crankbait lures use a rod with nuance that has a featherweight fiberglass blank. The same criteria apply to using jigs except they work best with graphite rod blanks. Flipping and pitching, which can be used with many different types of lures, year round, are actions that require a heavier weight bass fishing rod. Use a bass fishing rod with a graphite blank 7 to 8 feet long with excellent flexibility, backbone and a medium to soft tip.
